This help file is basically just a job description for the different staff positions in Life of Crime. The respective powers of staff positions have not been discussed in detail on purpose, so you can stop right here if thats what you are looking for (we need to keep some of our secrets, lol...). IF YOU WANT TO KNOW HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER OF THE STAFF TEAM: The selection of game staff is a complicated and ever changing process, but one thing remains clear for all positions: If you send lots of mail to Soj asking to be an Admin, you are VERY unlikely to become one. Asking for a staff position suggests you want the position for other reasons, such as the power it brings in the game. The majority of the current team NEVER asked for their positions!!! A power thirsty ego is NOT something we are looking for in our staff. Staff selection, in a nutshell, is based on merit. If you are active and enthusiastic in the game, and demonstrate the type of attributes we are looking for in a staff member, then you may well get picked. Decisions about staffing changes are made by the senior staff team (specifically Varuca and DangerMouse at this time) either individually or as a collective. Harassing Varuca or DangerMouse is not going to get you very far. We are constantly on the lookout for worthy players to be promoted to staff positions. Also, we do not have an infinite number of positions available. If we do not need more admins, we will not appoint them. If you are genuinely interested in becoming a staff member, DON'T tell us, SHOW us!!!! **THE FOLLOWING STAFF POSITIONS ARE ORDERED IN DESCENDING SENIORITY** Owner: The owners are in charge of every aspect of the game, and are the the head staff members. Soj is responsible for all programming, with Varuca and DangerMouse working with the senior staff team on matters of game development and the daily affairs of the game. The owners are VERY busy, so please don't pester them!! The other staff are all here to help the owners out, so try and ask them before you go to the senior staff (if it is important enough, the matter will be taken to one/all of them). The owners have the responsibilities of all staff positions combined, and the following additional responsibilities:
Senior Admins: The Senior Admins are members of the LoC Senior Staff, and play a major role in maintaining and developing the game. Senior Admins are only appointed as required, and are selected from the most dedicated, responsible and hard working game Admins. The Senior Admins are responsible for the daily maintenance of the game:
In addition to these duties, the Senior Admins are responsible for Staffing Changes, advising the owners as to the future direction of the game, dealing with any disputes between Staff, and providing advice to the rest of the staff team about more serious matters. If you have a problem with the actions of a staff member, then these are the people to take your concerns to!!! Admin: The position of Admin involves the following responsibilities:
Game Monitor: Game Monitors are responsible for general game maintenance, combining the responsibilities of the Chat and Message Board Monitor positions into a single role. The position includes the following duties:
Game Monitors are more senior members of staff than the more specialised monitors, reflecting their greater responsibility in the game. While punishments are limited to MB and/or Chat bans, the Game Monitors are also able to assign harsher punishments by contacting a member of the Admin team Help File Editor: No Help File Editors are required at the present.
